Weobley Parish Ecology
Group
During the past year a number of us in the Parish have
been exploring our
Christian responses to current ecological questions.
This has included a
stand at the monthly OFair Trade¹ coffee morning after
the service at St.
Thomas¹s Weobley on the first Sunday in the month and
an engagement by
several of us with the climate change/energy issue.
Under the
OCongregations for a Low Carbon Future¹ scheme, 15 members
of our parish
have filled in Home Energy Check forms (with a low energy
light bulb as a
reward!) and received a personal Report from the Marches
Energy Agency
(MEA). By last June, we had established links with members
of other local
Anglican and Methodist congregations and over one weekend
in June we met
with Katherine Shepherd from the MEA, who came to visit
us. With the autumn
now upon us, and as a way of taking forward our work
for the coming year,
here are Some Dates for Your Diary.

Here is the item from the October Christian Ecology
Link (CEL) News Bulletin
about 'Grants for Renewables for community organisations':-
"From 1st. April 2006 the DTI's low carbon buildings
programme will provide
grants for households and not for profit organisations
across the UK. This
means that churches can become mini power stations,
generating their own
electricity. APPLY NOW under stream one - grants for
community groups. The
grants cover technologies such as solar photovoltaics,
wind turbines, small
hydro, solar thermal hot water, ground source heat pumps
and bio-energy.
For more information, case studies and likely costs,
go to
www.lowcarbonbuildings.co.uk.
or phone 0800 915 7722. Put care for Creation
at the top of your church's agenda."
