NEWS FROM THE FUND RAISING
FRONT OF ST. NICHOLAS, NORTON CANON
We continued with our fund raising by holding the Promises
and Goods Auction on 21st April at the Village Hall. Those
who turned out, and there were plenty of them, had an enjoyable
social evening with sausage and chips at half time. That in
itself was worth the entrance fee.
With auction lots, entrance fees and donations, the total
banked was £4,691. A magnificent effort and our thanks go
to all those who donated auction lots, and to those who came
and bid. The sight and sound of our Vicar in full flow was
something to behold. There is, however, no truth in the rumour
that Brightwells have entered into discussions on a contract.
We have recently been successful in obtaining more grants,
including from The Rowlands Trust for £1,000, the Garfield
Weston Foundation for £3,000, The Allchurches Trust for £200
and Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust have pledged £1,000
towards development costs.
We now look forward to our Summer Event on 7th July at the
Village Hall. Fuller details will be found elsewhere in this
issue, but it will be an evening of Live Entertainment with
a Hog and Beef Roast.
Draw tickets will be on sale, or can be purchased before the
night. Only £1 per ticket, although an outlay of only £5 buys
a book. You will have the chance to win a leather three piece
suite, three cash prizes, plus opportunities of other prizes.
All who came to the Auction thought it was good value for
money and this Summer Event should help us to keep up our
reputation for providing a fun evening.
