October 2011
Dear Friends
Here in the Countryside October is the season of Harvest.
We see all around us the fruits of those who work so hard
with our land and then move the produce to barns and markets
so that we and many others may enjoy them at our tables.
Within churches we celebrate the harvest with traditional
Harvest Festival Services often followed by a meal together.
This is a perfect expression of our thanksgiving to God for
all good things around us that are sent from heaven above.
(is there a hymn in there somewhere??)
In addition to the celebration of the food harvest this is
also a good time to give thanks for so many other material
gifts that we have, or other projects that have come to completion.
As I look around our churches I see repairs and renovation
to buildings like Letton Church and the Chapel in Weobley.
I am really looking forward to hearing Weobley Organ strike
its first refurbished note at Harvest Festival and I delight
in the 100's of other (often) unseen jobs that have been completed
this year.
Harvest is when we give thanks for all of our gifts and share
them with God.
May God bless you this year and always.
