September 2011
Dear Friends
September is the month when a large number of people start
new stages within their lives. Some people start school for
the first time, most young people move up a class, some move
to a new school or college or university or even a real job
for the first time, if they have been lucky enough to find
one.
For many it is the beginning of something different, a season
of change when many things are new and every situation can
appear to be daunting and challenging. We see in our own areas
changes in our schools and other services that can cause us
to be concerned as to how the future will pan out.
I have been thinking about the times in my life when things
have changes around me. It has not always been easy but I
realise that I have been helped enormously by the people who
have been an integral part of those changes. Teachers, Lecturers,
workmates, friends and colleagues.
Looking back I don't think I have realised how the actions
of these people which many have seemed mundane or insignificant
at the time actually eased the passage and path that I was
on.
Maybe this is the message for September. To think back to
those people in your lives who helped you along and give thanks
for them and then to go out and try to do the same for others.
