August 2010
Dear Friends
I wonder what images flash into your mind when some one mentions
August and holidays.
The picture for me is of sunny days, lots of time to do things,
long lies and lovely salads and barbies in the garden.
Of course the reality is often quite different . The rains
come, I never seem to find enough time to fit everything in,
I always wake up feeling as fresh as a daisy when there is
no deadlines and as for the barbeques ………………
Our faith can sometimes seem to be a little like my perception
for August. The ideal dream is so special and we have such
high expectations that there can be a feeling of let down
if we are not careful.
I think the issue is that we are always looking for perfection
and that perfection is almost impossible for us to attain.
Jesus said it is easier for a camel - etc etc and so it is
today.
I have realised over the past few months that there is time
for everything and everything has its own time. The important
thing for me is to allow god to work within His time and not
mine, to His expectations and to His ends.
This is not easy, allowing God to be part of our lives involved
us handing everything to Him and allowing Him to work with
us, guiding and inspiring us. When we do this it is amazing
what can happen.
I hope that this August the Son will shine in your lives
as God reveals His will for you so that you may sleep in peace
and enjoy all the fruits of His creation and love.
I leave you with the same blessing that I used in May at
the beginning of the Summer
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always on your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face and
the rain fall gently on your fields, and until we meet again
may God hold you all in the palm of his hand
