Dear Friends
We appear to be obsessed with money. Wherever we turn we
are bombarded with details about the Credit Crunch or how
much Members of Parliament have claimed in expenses or the
information that the value of our houses is decreasing or
a myriad of other things.
I remember my Mum saying to me
"Think poor be poor, Think rich be rich"
Simple words but, in my experience very true.
When we find ourselves surrounded by this type of news it
is easy to begin to "think poor", to retreat into a feeling
of gloom and despondency and stop thinking rationally. Our
instant reaction could be to cut everything and hide until
it all gets better.
The disciples must have felt this way after Easter as they
huddled together in a locked room hiding from the world. It
was only after the arrival of the Holy Spirit that they got
out and began to act in a positive and constructive way. The
result of this positive approach is Christianity as we know
it today.
Perhaps this is our opportunity to be positive, to think
rich and to share all that we have with others for the benefit
of those around us. Fanciful thinking perhaps … or is it?
By the way, when did YOU last increase the amount you give
to charity? If you suddenly find you need help you will be
pleased that some people reviewed their giving and increased
it!!
With my love and prayers
