We are very fortunate in Weobley in having three
Christian churches. The Methodist chapel is on the Old Hereford
Road opposite the scout hut, the Roman Catholic church of
St Thomas is on the Kington Road and the Anglican Parish Church
of St Peter and St Paul is hard to miss —jets use it as a
way-mark! Its soaring spire is the second highest in Herefordshire,
second only to Ledbury.
But though having three churches offers people
a choice for their worship we all worship and try to follow
the same Christ, so we also sometimes worship or celebrate
together. We go carol singing together round the village at
Christmas, during Lent we study in Lent groups, at Easter
we come together on Good Friday for a walk of witness behind
the Cross, at Pentecost we share an outdoor service in the
Rose Garden (and a very good tea!) and in the autumn we come
together for our Harvest celebration and a joint Harvest meal.
There can be other activities, too, and jointly we support
the youth work in the village. Individually and together we
offer villagers and visitors a warm welcome.
