A new member of our clergy team – Rev’d Canon Paul Francis

We are fortunate to have a recent addition to our team of retired clergy – Revd Canon Paul Edward Francis. Paul and his wife Audrey moved into Weobley in 2020. Hopefully you will meet Paul as he takes some services around the benefice in the coming months.

Here’s a brief introduction:

Prior to ordination I worked in banking (Barclays), industry (Metal Box Company) and the BBC (Radio Times).

I trained for ordination at Salisbury and Wells Theological College and served my entire stipendiary ministry in the Diocese of Rochester in a variety of parishes urban and suburban before ending up as Residentiary Canon for Discipleship at Rochester Cathedral. I retired in September 2017 and was made ‘Canon Emeritus’ and first moved to Canterbury where I was granted ‘PTO’, then moved to Weobley in June 2020. In addition to parish and cathedral ministry I have undertaken training in Spiritual Direction and Reflective Practice, mentoring and tutoring on the ‘Clergy Leadership Programme’ and have also had the privilege of serving over a five-year period as an occasional ‘Duty Chaplain’ at Westminster Abbey.

It is good now to be here in this benefice and I look forward to working with Philip and across the deanery.
